Riding Bubbles

Miss Tally Rides Mr. Bubbles
August 22nd, 2009

Tally heads out of the barn on Bubbles.

Grandpa leading Bubbles in the round pin.

One happy kiddo!

Tally and the perma grin.

"Hi Bugga!"

"Uuggh, Uuggh, Grunt! Grunt!" All Seamus could do was watch, he wanted a ride too.

Eventually he found a mount more his size.

"Giddy up Jeep!"

Louis Lake Beach

A Day at the Beach: Wyo Style
Louis Lake Beach, Shoshone NF August 2nd, 2009

After lazing around all morning, Dad decided that we should head for the high country since it was going to be a billion degrees outside in Lander that afternoon. So we loaded up the Jeep and made our way to the granite sand of Louis Lake beach. What a great way to cool off on such a hot day!

Tally and Seamus were fascinated by the "driftwood."

Seamus was braver than his sister and agreed to go for a swim with his tattooed Dad.

Then he rested on the sand for a bit

before joining sis in her stick hunting exploits.

Here, Seamus checks out the surf while Tally runs away from it.

"Hey Mom, come catch a wave with me."

"Hey Mom, guard my sticks for me."

"Dad, the water is looking good...."

Our bathing beauty.

Time for a Cliff Bar break.
Dad sucks in the yummy snacks department.

"Yikes, I just saw Nessie!"

or maybe not.

Seamus looks for ships on the horizon.

Then he and Tallulah stroll on the beach.

What a great way to spend the day. Thanks Dad.
Sometimes you have good ides.

Taming the Tetons

Taming the Tetons
July 25th and 26th, 2009

Tally and Seamus ride the Jackalope in Dubois on our way up to Jackson Hole.

We headed up Jackson this weekend so Dad could ride in a couple of bike races- "Taming the Tetons", an 18 mile MTB single track race at Teton Resort Saturday and then the Teton Pass Hill climb (combined road and MTB event) on Sunday. He sucked at both this year.

Dad putts by during the Taming of the Tetons Race, bringing up the rear, signaling that he's still okay.

Mom got bored waiting for Dad to finish his race, so she took the kids up the Tram to give them a taste of lift served high country.

That's my girl!!

Tally and Seamus strategize and plan their ascent of the Grand, in the background.

After the race, we took the Gondola back up the mountain for some dinner- or what actually turned out to be fancy bar snacks.

Going up.

Seamus not sure.

Once we got up there, a big lightning and thunder storm came in. They shut donw the lift. We ended up stuck up there for a few hours. This was one many ways Tally passed the time. There's a reason this lift runs free in the evening- now we know.

The next day the monsters got to hang out Teton Pass while dad tried to climb it on both his bikes as fast as he could. He did a bit better, but not as good as last year- probably cause his legs weren't fresh.

Go Daddy go!

Shad limps by on his mountain bike, 2/3 the way up the final climb of the day. All in all, despite the tourons and craziness of Jackson in the summer, it was a pretty entertaining weekend. Always an adventure!
